What is a Soundbar?

A soundbar is also called a mediabar. Basically, soundbar is made up of two words: SOUND + BAR. So we can say that soundbar is a long rectangular device or bar that produces sound waves. It is a type of loudspeaker that projects sound from a wide enclosure.

Soundbar can be tall standing type or it can be placed above or below a screen panel.

Basically, in a soundbar or mediabar multiple speakers are placed in a single bar or cabinet, which helps to create surround sound effect. A separate Subwoofer is also included with, or may be used to supplement a soundbar to produce a stereo sound effect.
